Canterbury Chorale

for String Orchestra

More works for Orchestra

On request of Brass Band Midden Brabants chairman, Robert Leveugle, Jan Van der Roost composed this quiet piece with its broad tones. The source of inspiration was a visit of the composer to the beautiful cathedral of Canterbury, in which so many fine compositions have sounded throughout the ages. Besides solo phrases, there are some broad and massive tutti phrases, which make the orchestra sound like a majestic organ.
